About Us
VacationHomeKits.com is a concept which actually evolved from the travel industry. For 10 years we have operated an online travel agency with a group of agents throughout the U.S. Keeping track of who was working one what leads is an important task when you have a remote distribution force. We have tweeked the approach over time and tried to make it simple enough for consumers to us, but still flexible enough for agents to actually sell. These aren't transacations, they are knowledge based sales. It's rare that you get a home run where the person on the other end of the phone or email starts the conversation with "Here's my credit card number". The lead gets you to first base, and then it's a matter of teamwork, knowledge and coaching if you make it the rest of the way there.
A couple years ago we started looking at vacation home options and I filled out numerous contact forms on web sites and at trade shows. I was very surprised that the response rate on my inquires was about 10%. Some even ignored numerous requests for information. I realized there were a couple factors working against me.
- Most builders like building better than selling
- Dealers rarely qualify their potential customers
- Information sent to potential customers isn't followed up on, and the information is generally generic and doesn't facilitate the begining of the sales cycle
- Dealers generally do not arrange for future contact based on land aquisition and other sales cycle issue
- Dealer management by vendors is generally informal rarely addresses the issue of lost sales opportunities
We are hoping that as VacationHomeKits.com grows, so will the businesses of the homes businesses we support.
